当研究グループは、血管障害の臨床研究を実施しています。当科で診療している冠動脈疾患、心不全、睡眠時無呼吸症候群、高血圧症など循環器疾患関連症例に対し連続的に血管機能検査を実施し、心血管疾患の病態と血管機能の関連を研究しています。脈波速度、脈波解析などは年間1000件以上実施し、内皮機能検査、血管超音波検査は年間150例程度実施しています。
研究成果は国際医学雑誌に平均年10編の原著論文として発表しており、その成果は国内外で広く認知され、国内・国外の血管障害に関連した診療ガイドライン作成に関わっています。さらに、新たな血管機能の評価方法の確立を目指して新規プロジェクトを2017年から開始しています。
また、健康機能食品の血管機能への効果を検証するプロジェクトも実施しております。こちらはマスコミにも注目され、テレビなどメディアから多数の取材依頼を受けています。研究班の目標は"循環器疾患の予防に役立つ研究の実施"です。"高血圧、虚血性心疾患、心不全などの臓器障害をきたす前に事前に食い止めるにはどうすればいいのか"を常に念頭に置き、日々研究に励んでおります。

当科は日本高血圧学会認定研修施設です。日本内科学会認定内科医資格を取得後、3年間当グループで研修を行い、高血圧専門医試験に合格すれば高血圧専門医が取得できます。また、日本循環器学会、日本心臓病学会、日本高血圧学会など国内主要学会、ESCやAHAなどの海外主要学会にも毎年発表を行い、その成果は国内外で認められています。さらに、論文作成、学位取得の指導にも注力しており、毎年国際医学雑誌に数多くの原著論文を投稿しております。当グループでは全員が医学博士の学位を取得しています。国内、海外への留学の援助とともに、中国など海外からも積極的に留学生を受け入れ、研究の指導を行ってきました。
